Project Description: Path Awareness Networking (PAN) is a networking concept that improves communication efficiency and reliability by understanding the data transmission path between endpoints. In satellite communications, PAN (or Satellite-Path Awareness Networking, S-PAN) optimizes data transmission between ground stations and satellites. S-PAN techniques involve real-time monitoring and historical analysis of communication links to enhance network resource optimization and cybersecurity, reducing latency and improving bandwidth use. The project aim is to design a PAN-based technical baseline for combined space-terrestrial networks, by identifying use cases and benchmark solutions. The identified solution will be tested using a demonstration framework both at laboratory and live satellite levels.
